Winter NAMM 2020 Recap
2020 marks the 11th consecutive year that I have attended the North American Music Merchants (NAMM) conference in Anaheim CA - though this time was unlike any other. A new lease on life, I dove in head first / knees deep now in a commitment to present the very finest products from companies I have grown to admire, but most importantly respect due to their high level of craftsmanship, ingenuity and character they bring to the community.
Mr. Lee from Carol Brass, his son Wely and I go way back to my days living in Taiwan (2009 - 2012). We designed a few trumpets together and perfected the finer aspects of quality control within the factory. Years later, I am honored to represent them here in the USA. Every instrument that comes with the Carol Brass name has been built with love, and it shows just as strong as it PLAYS. They have multiple material and construction options available, so if you’d be interested in something custom please contact me.
A step off the beaten path you will discover Adams Music. Each pillar is a treasure trove of alternative styling, technique, and aesthetic. Meil Adams is a righteous man of impeccable style and good taste; his instruments dare no less. Well noted as one of the very best valve blocks in the industry, just holding one in your hands will yearn the call for creativity. Niche Trumpet is an Adams dealer here in the USA. If you discover a favorite within the catalog please contact me and I’ll acquire it for you.
Which leads me to my roots. I would not be where I am if it were not for Alex Hsieh, CEO of P. Mauriat Music Instruments. He opened the door for me to a new life, a new world, and a new way of living. He gave me the freedom to pursue alternative design concepts for the P. Mauriat trumpet line which ultimately lead to such models as the PMT-700 and PMT-700R. I am thankful to represent P. Mauriat’s newest line of modular trumpets, the PMT-75 series here the states. You must experience the incredible properties of a titanium-copper alloy!
All this in mind folks, I know this sounds like one giant praise to my peers - which it is. The music industry is incredible for all its quirks and personalities, and I love each one of them. We are all in this together, and what better way to share it than with the joy of music making. ALL IN ALL - lots of fun discoveries at NAMM 2020 not mentioned here though will BE here for sale shortly so let’s stay in touch, and THANK YOU for joining me for this wonderful journey.
